Mijas is divided into three different areas or neighborhoods, you could say. It is Mijas Pueblo, which is the part that is located up in the mountains, Las Lagunas, which is a modern residential area, and Mijas Costa, which is a 12 km long coastal strip with various small towns, with La Cala de Mijas located in the middle.

One of the longest beaches in Mijas Costa is called Calahonda and is over 4500 meters long and 25 meters wide.
