Torre de la Horadada, Pilar de la Horadada
If you are looking for a true Spanish village right on the beach, Torre de la Horadada may be the option for you! Here, older Spanish-style summer cottages are mixed with newly-manufactured homes with more modern style.
The village enjoys a very privileged location next to some of southern Costa Blanca's best beaches. In the summertime, the days are lively in the area and Playa Jesuitas' buzz of life and movement with the chiringuito that works just as well for lunch as for the evening drink.
In the winter months it is a completely different mood, the calm that prevails gives room for reflection and self-care to the sound of waves crashing. Some places close, but enough good restaurants like Cerverceria Torremar are open to serve Mediterranean cuisine for overwintering and permanent residents. With high quality ingredients, tapas are offered here that are difficult to find elsewhere.
Torre de la Horadada boasts a beautiful square surrounded by trees and restaurants, as well as a long lovely promenade. Thanks to a less hilly environment, the immediate area is easily accessible via both walking and cycling.
Dialprix is responsible for the basics when it comes time to shop for food, but more stores with a good range are in Pilar de la Horadada, which is the main municipality only 1.5 km away. It is a charming and vibrant village all year round with local fish shop, meat shop, school, sports facility with swimming pool and of course several really good restaurants. Along the main street there are several cafes and restaurants mixed with grocery stores and grocery stores. We highly recommend Meson Los Caracoles for anyone looking for Spanish home cooking. For the meat lover, the choice obviously rests on El Gallego and the best pizzas fix Nostrissima. There is a market every Friday where the Spaniards buy all the fruit and vegetables for the week to come.
Here you will not notice the summer season in the same way as in Torre de la Horadada and Mil Palmeras. A community to enjoy only a few kilometers from the beach.
A few kilometers south we also find San Pedro del Pinatar (Murcia) which has at least as much to offer as Pilar de la Horadada as well as a fantastic nature reserve there. Las Higuericas and El Mojón are the areas farther south in the Torre de la Horadada which boasts natural sandy beaches, a boardwalk and crystal clear water that offers bathing temperatures 6 months a year.
There are bus connections to get between the different locations, but it must be seen as an advantage to have a car if there is desire to explore the nearby cities of Cartagena, Murcia or Alicante which are between 35-45 minutes away.
